The leadership lab opened my eyes about the true process of the Fellows Project. The Fellows Project, isn't just the fellow extending their interests into a year long project. This project will most likely stay with us for the rest of our lives. It is our first "adult" or "professional" work. We will need to have a teacher mentor to help us through the project. Writing out all the tasks needed to complete the project helped me visualize all the work that is needed to be done.

Since my fellows project has two main parts, the restoration and the videos, I have two mentors, My father is my mentor for the restoration process. He has been working on cars since he was a teenager. My father and I have previously discussed work that needs to be completed and the sequence of events to achieve it. We expect to have the engine rebuilt, the engine bay clean and repainted, and be in the process of reconditioning the automatic transmission. We started the project in April and are in the process of rebuilding it.
My mentor for the videos is Ms. Johnson. We have not met about the video process yet.

Today I met with Ms. Johnson about the video part of my project. We talked about the software that I will use for the videos. Ms. Johnson suggested that I get a monthly subscription to Adobe with all of its software, including Adobe Premiere. She also said that multiple 5-10 minute videos will be better than a long documentary. For the Fellows presentation, I am going to make a 5 minute summary/preview video for the whole project.

As of today, we have the engine completely cleaned and are in the process of being put together. We have completely renovated the bottom end of the engine, which includes:
- cleaning the pistons and installing new piston rings
- cleaning and reinstalling the connecting rods
- reinstalling the crankshaft and big end and main bearings
- cleaning and reinstalling the oil pump
- cleaning and reinstalling the timing gear
- repainting the cylinder block, sump, and timing-gear cover
To complete the engine, we now need to renovate the cylinder head.

My 40% over the summer included both the restoration and video parts. My mentor, who is my dad, and I took the engine, the ancillary components and the front suspension out. The engine is fixed, painted and put back together besides the head, which just needs to be painted the correct color for the time period. The front suspension is stripped and in the process of being cleaned and refurbished with new parts. The ancillary components in the engine bay are cleaned and the engine bay is ready for painting. For the video portion, I watched tutorials about editing and researched editing styles for a restoration. I have started playing around with editing some of the first videos taken.

I have started to edit the first section of the film. The first set of videos was taken on March 29, 2020. I created a 2 minute video sample with the editing style that I am thinking of doing for the rest of the videos. Ms. Johnson and I have agreed that a series of videos is easier to complete than a large documentary.

The first episode of the restoration series is uploaded to YouTube! The videos are titled "One Good Weekend". The background for the title "One Good Weekend" is that my dad has a Triumph GT6 that he says just needs one good weekend to be fixed. But he has been saying that for over 20 years and it is still in many parts in the garage. I thought the title would fit well because the saying has become a joke with my family.
